Nubble Light, York, Maine

Nubble Light located in York, Maine is an excellent scuba diving spot for all skill levels. This site is well protected from the ocean elements, has a nice sandy bottom in the center and has lots of marine life to see. This site is a favorite of many scuba training schools. I would suggest diving this site at high tide for easy entry and exiting. Check out NOAA for tides chart for York, Maine.

The diving area (left side as you look at the light house) is a well protected cove area with easy water entry. Because the area is protected, visibility is usually pretty good and very little current. Since, we’re in Maine, you better believe the water is cold! The coldest temperature I’ve dove in at the Nubble was 39*F at a depth of 60 feet. Very numbing, but it is worth the dive!

Driving directions to Nubble Light

As you can see there’s some parking; however it fills up fast. You can scuba dive every day except on Sunday. Also, there are restrooms which is a nicely amenity.

Here are some marine life you can see while diving at the Nubble!

Northern Red Anemone

Lump Fish

Sea Raven

Striper

My dad spends a lot of time here at the Nubble. He is the one who provided me with these pictures; and he has many more! This is a must scuba diving site!

Welcome to New England Scuba Diving

Welcome to my scuba diving blog!

The purpose of the New England Scuba Diving blog is to provide information on diving sites throughout the New England states (CT., MA., ME., NH, RI and VT). In my weekly posts I will write about things you might find when you’re diving (i.e. wrecks, marine life – fishes, plants etc.), details about the conditions, entry points and any other information that may be useful to plan a dive trip. In addition, you will find links to interesting articles or web sites that I think would be useful to all scuba divers.

My postings will not only contain details that I can find through research, but I think it would be great to share everyone’s experiences at each of the dive site listed and submit new sites that I can include in this blog site. If you have any sites that you enjoy scuba diving at, send me an email at newenglandscubadiving@gmail.com with your name, phone number and what site you dove at and I’ll contact you.

I hope you enjoy the posting and come back often to read and learn of the excellent scuba diving locations through out New England!
